The 'idiot self' Montag, wants to be blind on what he is acknowledging. He would never expected to see that his emotion and lifestyle are unside down.

In referring to himself as the “idiot self” he was interpreting apart of himself for his own understanding. He has noticed a quality in himself that he doesn’t like in others. He’s Even going so far as to label them as idiots subconsciously like he does to his wondering thoughts consciously as seen on page: 14 line: 15, “That was his idiot thought as he stood shivering in the dark, and let his lips go on moving and moving.”. I believe he is insulting that part of himself as an unproductive way of correcting his self diagnosed problem with insults. Problem solving techniques like those were quite prevalent in many different forms for many uses during the time period of the book.

The "idiot self" that Montag refers about in the novel is the part of him that is trying all the crazy new things like when he open his mouth for a few seconds to taste the rain like Clarisse was doing before.

"The idiot self", is meant to say that Montag has a hard time thinking for himself, and that he has a life of emptiness.

Based on the novel I think that the "idiot self" that Montag refers to is meant to represent his way of knowing things, the way hey seen this but most important the way he thinks. My reasons for thinking the way I do is because there’s part of the novel that make u think that he is a big idiot. At first, Montag believes that he is happy. But when he views himself in the firehouse mirror after a night of burning, he grins the fierce smirk of all men singed and driven back by flame .For example, Montag never knew that firemen used to fight actual fires or that billboards used to be only 20 feet long. Nor did Montag know that people could actually talk to one another. This might be some of the reason why montag refers to himself as idiot .He never knew what really is out there; maybe he was to busy making fire when the truth is that fire men’s are supposed to stop them.

In the novel fahrenheit 451, it seen like montag has another personality. In some part of the novel he talks about himself as an subconscious idiot. He do things without thinking and when he realized what his has done, he acts like his talking to another person. What can you expet from a person that enjoy starting fires. We all need sombody to talk with about our problems so that we could receive advice. But in his case he don't talk to his wife very often and when they do is nothing important, she is another one that is not happy that wants attention from people and the way to do it is hurting herself.

The idiot self is Montag's mind, who is crying to be free, to think for herself, to agree or disagree with the things he does. His mind is yelling at him to see if he listens and sometimes he cannot control it.

This says about Montag that even though he doesn't say somethings, he still think about them. For example, in page 16, when he says "If only someone else's flesh and brain and memory", he whishes to have a different woman as his wife, He doesn't tells her or anybody else, but he thinks about it. what he presenting in the outside is not how he relly feels in the inside.

Montag was a normal guy that satisfying his job and his life. However, after he met Clarisse, he started confusing about himself. I think that the idiot self refers Montag who was confused about himself.

The “idiot self”, is meant to say that Montag has a hard time thinking for himself which is shown in his actions. He also has a life of emptiness, or sadness. For example, when he is confronted by his wife and she asked if he is happy, the time came when he was in his room in darkness, and he realized he was not happy. He repeated it to himself over and over.

I was the anonymous person....

I believe Montag is refering his idiot self to the part of him that knew, he was unhappy but denyed it. Montag questioned life around him. Especially the time he had a conversation with an older man and now. Montag felt like this other half was an idiot to question life around him. He stated that his idiot self was " quit independent of will, habit, and conscience."

In the novel Fahrenheit 451, Montag refers himself as an idiot because he never realized that he was unhappy until he met Clarisse. At first Montag tried to deny nd ignore that his was unhappy, but after his walk home from work, he came to the realization that he was unhappy. One reason why Montag realized he was unhappy, was because the thought of his wife just sitting infront of the T.V. and repeating every line they would say before they even said it, and not paying any attention to him. I think meeting Clarisse has helped Montag realize somethings about his life.

What i can say that happened in fahrenheit 451 is, Montag would have been happy with his life, if his with did not have emotional issues with her self. I say this because she never talked, she just either stared at walls or watched television all day. Whenever montag spoke to Mildred, she would just look at him without no response. I feel as though Mildred paid more attention to her television life, than she did to her husband, Montag. What Mildred mainly done with her life is look at her favorite show on television. What she would do is say what the people on television would say before they said it, and she also would repeat them on what was said. You could tell that Mildred wanted to be apart of the show, because she knew everything about the show. As a result, Montag feel as though he was such an idiot for marrying Mildred from the beginning. Montag wants to be with Clarrisse, Who works at a school. Montag meets Clarrissee on the train. Montag and Clarrissee kept in touch and he began to like her. Montag now wishes that he was with Clarrissee instead of his wife Mildred, who does not pay attention to him. Montag and Clarrissee began to share a lot in common. Montag also feels as though Clarrissee, is someone he can talk to, that's doesn't have a television as her life. Also someone that acts human and listens and give responses to him, When he talks to her.

The "idiot self" that Montag imply to himself was his subconscious mind.

"Are you happy?" was just a simple question that Clarisse McClellan, a seventeen-year-old girl had asked Montag, which it had his mind indefinite about his life; such as himself, his marriage, the society he lives in.

When Montag return home from talking to Clarisse, his home was silence and dark. After finding and taking his wife to the hospital because she was unconscious, overdose herself with sleeping pills. After watching two men who's not an M.D put a "snake" inside his wife stomach he knew that that wasnt his wife he had married from the beginning. The society didnt have real people, nobody thinks or feel anything.
